Are you interested in exploring beautiful places, experience the homestay, experience a way of life of true mountain people? Then Upper Mustang trek is the perfect trekking destination. It is a rare pleasure to trek in Upper Mustang. Here you will witness a way of life of real mountain people, who have had very little interaction with the rest of Nepal for hundreds of years and have preserved their rich cultural heritage. Until recently the government of Nepal officially acknowledged their king. The Trekking of the Mustang is the ultimate path to the mystical realm of Mustang ‘s old Buddhist kingdom, usually called Lo. After decades of being prohibited and separated from the rest of the world, the region was able to develop within its own distinctive culture and rich traditions closely linked to Tibet. The Upper Mustang is about two-thirds north of the Dhaulagiri District. This trek is famous for its beauty of the desert and its harsh, cliff-faced landscapes. A trek into Upper Mustang is close in many respects to trekking in Tibet because it is a part of the Tibetan plateau geographically. The Mustang district was a separate kingdom within Nepal until 1950.  It was not until 1992 that trekking began in the area. Just a few walkers could consider the fragile climate and the people ‘s ancient enclosed culture. Upper Mustang, being in the shadow of the Himalayan climate, is one of the country’s regions ideal for trekking even during the monsoons. The upper Kali Gandaki valley is still very dry with rainfall only periodically during this period. Over Kagbeni, there are few accommodation facilities available so groups must be completely self-sufficient, particularly in fuel. In the rain shadow of Dhaulagiri massif, Mustang produces an extremely arid land with rocks and spectacular formations in all kinds of colors. This desolate landscape is dotted with villages of whitewashed homes, barley fields, and chortens festooned with prayer flags that give a splash of color to the countryside. Although porters are available in Jomsom, the use of mules to carry the loads up to Mustang is preferable. Mustang is cold in winter and is windy and dusty all year round. Due to the harsh weather winter treks are best avoided.
