Muktinath Temple is located in the Mustang District of Nepal (Annapurna
Conservation Area;3710 meters,22 km North-East from Jomsom). The Temple is very
popular among Hindus and Buddhists. The place is called "Mukti Kshetra"
by Hindus because they believe that one can obtain Moksha if s/he worships
here. On the other hand, Buddhists call it Chumig Gyatsa (i.e The Hundred
Springs).
It is said that Muktinath is a place where Guru Rinpoche meditated on his
way from India to Tibet. Hence, the place carries a great religious
significance to both Hindus and Buddhists.
108 water sprouts are the major attractions of the
temple. Devotees take a quick bath in the icy cold water coming from the
sprouts. Jwala Mai temple is also one of the centers of attraction.
You will have a scenic drive throughout the trip. The beauty
and changes in the landscape will amaze you.
