Trip Overview

Lobuche East Peak Climbing is a technical and more demanding climbing route in the Everest Region. The peak is spaced at an altitude of 6,119 m above the sea level and this quite a height. It is not easy for the people living in low altitude areas to just come up and complete this route. You need to do plenty of physical and mental preparations and also acclimatize yourselves in the high altitudes of the Khumbu Region during the trip itself.

Therefore, Lobuche East peak climbing is a route that is designed such that it helps you prepare yourselves to conquer a pretty high mountain peak and at the same time enjoy the beauty and magnificence of the Everest Region. The trek begins with an extremely thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, which is one of its kind. As soon as we land, we start trekking northwards along the classic Everest trekking route. As we leave behind Namche, Tengboche, Dingboche and many other significant landmarks we reach Everest Base Camp. The hike in Everest Base camp and Kala Patthar plays a vital role for your body to get used to high altitudes and also to practice some climbing skills in real.

Lobuche East peak, as we said earlier, need technical capabilities. You need to get comfortable in using crampons, ropes, and abseiling using a figure of 8 and moving between fixed lines. After you cope up with all these challenges and strive to get to the top of the peak, the reward it gives back is just mesmerizing. The views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Pumori, Ama Dablam, and plenty of other peaks in a panoramic fashion will make you speechless.

Like any other trekking routes in Everest Region or we can say in Nepal, the best season for this route is also spring and autumn, because of the sharpness in views of landscapes and fairly healthy weather.

A quick stroll in the streets of Kathmandu and last minute gear shopping is a perfect thing to do in the evening.
The early morning 30 minutes flight to Lukla is definitely going to give you some Adrenaline rush. A quick tip: Try to sit in the right-hand side seat of the aircraft for mesmerizing views during the final approach to the airport. After landing, the trek begins where you follow Dudhkoshi River valley, cross Tharo Koshi River through a suspension bridge and make a final climb towards Phakding. We will walk about 3 hours today before arriving Phakding and stay overnight.
On our fourth day of the trip, today, we will walk about 6 hours, starting by following the same Dudh Koshi River. The first interesting destination of today would be Zamputhi where you will get a mesmerizing glance of Thamserku Peak. Another interesting destination will be Chomoa, which is the site of an agricultural project. This location will offer you an insight into the farming style of the people in this region. On walking further uphill, we will enter Sagarmatha National Park and we continue to finally reach Namche Bazaar. On our trip today we cross a suspension bridge that falls in 123rd position in the list of world’s tallest bridge. We stay overnight in Namche.
In the morning we make an acclimatization hike to Everest view hotel and during the afternoon we explore the local market of Namche Bazaar. There are a lot of things that Namche offers and a single day can be short enough for you to enjoy everything. For a short day of refreshment, you can go for a movie or to a bar for refreshment. There are also a few popular coffee shops in the area. And of course, if you want to have a refreshing massage before you really start climbing; Namche can be the perfect point to do it. Or, we have another choice of doing a quick hike to Syangboche, where you can get your first close-up of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam and Thamserku.
Today, 5-6 hours of the walk will take us to our destination: Tengboche. Leaving behind Namche Bazaar, we descend and walk along the Dudh Koshi River. Then we will hike uphill to reach Tengboche. You will see small Buddhist monuments and stupas on the way. On reaching Tengboche, you will see a monastery which is the largest monastery of the Khumbu region. We stay overnight in Tengboche.
Leaving behind Tengboche, eleven kilometers of trekking would be required to reach Dingboche. This should take us about 5-6 hours. We will be walking around the lane of the alpine forest. When the fragrance of Rhododendron hits your senses, you will get boosted. We will cross Imja Khola, climb to Pangboche and continue hiking up to Dingboche. Dingboche is a traditional Sherpa village. Here you will get astounding views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. The warmth and hospitality of local people will make you forget the tiredness of the day. We stay overnight here.
Today should not be a difficult day as we walk again for about 5/6 hours and we are used to it by today. Our trail will follow a moraine of the Khumbu glacier and pass across stone memorials for the climbers who had to face sudden demise on nearby summits. We continue our climb, getting escorted by the panorama of beautiful mountains and reach Lobuche. This place has very few settlements, lies at the foot of an enormous Lobuche peak and provides us the rest for the day as we stay overnight.
You desperately wanted to reach Everest Base Camp, didn’t you? Guess What? Today is the day your dream comes true. We also walk a bit more hours than the previous days and the walk is also going to be quite difficult. We will hike up to Gorak Shep and continue walking to Everest Base Camp. This is the location where people can go closest to the peak of Mt. Everest, without any mountaineering equipment. The view you will get of the surrounding ridges and peaks will be so astounding that it will be pasted in your memories forever. After spending some time in EBC, we head back to Gorak Shep for our overnight stay.
Also popularly known as Everest View Point, Kala Patthar offers you the most magnificent views of the mountain peaks in the entire trek. Hike of about 4 hours would take us from Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar. You will get a panoramic view of mountain peaks including the roof of the world, Mt. Everest and other peaks such as Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse, Lhotse and others. Basically, you will be surrounded by gigantic snow-capped peaks. After the refreshing view from Kala Pathar we divert towards the Lobuche Base Camp which offers us the stunning views of Ama Dablam (6,856m), Cholatse (6,635m), Thamserku (6,608m), and Kangtega (6,685m) and many others. We stay overnight in Lobuche Base Camp.
The trail will mostly comprise climbing along the rocky moraines to reach the High Camp. The time that will take us from base camp to the high camp is about 4 hours. The reason why we do a short hike today is the summit day which will take place tomorrow. Occasionally, the path gets steep and slippery and hence caution is advised. The pristine Himalayas will escort us throughout our journey. After we reach the high camp, we do some mountaineering exercise and stay overnight at the high camp in a tent.
Today is the most important day of the trip. We make our final ascent to the summit of Lobuche east situated in an altitude of 6,119 meters. The altitude of the peak is nothing compared to the mountain peaks that are spaced in the Khumbu Region, however the magnificence of the view and the satisfaction that we get on reaching the top of the Lobuche East is beyond imagination. Our trail will slowly steepen up. You will be instructed about the technical guidelines. So, just relax and pay attention to what you are doing. We might also be using some trekking gears on this final ascent. On reaching the summit, our eyes will be requited with the pristine views of the mountains like Mt. Everest (8,848m), Lhotse (8,414m), Mt. Ama Dablam (6,856m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), and many other gigantic peaks. After we spend some quality time, we retrace back towards the base camp and stay overnight at the base camp.
The feature of mountainous terrain is the unpredictability of the weather. Therefore, we keep a reserve day in case we face delays in climbing the summit. If everything goes as per the plan without any delay, we utilize this day to move forwards towards Tengboche.
We start descending along the ridge and we reach Pangboche village. From here we may bid farewell to the Lobuche peak. Our trail then penetrates through the forests and we cross a suspension bridge to reach the Tengboche. Tengboche is a very famous place in the Khumbu region. Tengboche monastery is one of those places in this region, which everyone wants to visiting. We stay overnight at Tengboche.
The destination of today’s journey is a place called Monjo. Seven hours of the walk should be comfortable enough for us to trek from Tengboche to Monjo. The trail begins with crossing a suspension bridge and ascending along the other side of the terrain to reach Namche Bazaar. Most of the routes are designed such as staying in Namche Bazaar while returning. However, we will continue descending towards Monjo. We stay overnight in Monjo.
On the final day of the adventure, we head back to Lukla. We will catch a flight tomorrow morning to reach Kathmandu. The trail passes eastwards alongside the Dudh Koshi River all the way to Lukla. After we arrive at Lukla, we can roam around embracing the magnificent sceneries all around for the final day at the lap of the Himalayas.
Usually, the flights to and from are completed in the early morning because of the unpredictable weather patterns in the afternoon. So we can expect to be in our hotel in Kathmandu by early afternoon. In Kathmandu, a farewell dinner would be organized for you all to make the last day of your trip memorable.
