Numbur Cheese Circuit is a newly established trekking route in the Ramechhap district of Nepal. The circuit trail linking two lovely valleys of the river, namely Khimti and Likhu in the laps of Everest and Rolwaling valley. The name of this trek is derived from the name Numburchuli Mountain of this region which is known as Nepal’s first yak cheese factories in 1957. This trek also promotes eco-tourism. You will travel through various terrain-deep river gorges, glacial lakes, terraced rice fields, alpine vegetation, Sherpa villages as well as Numburchuli which is 6959 meters high. You will be observing cheese factories and Thodung monastery which is a famous pilgrim for Sherpa here. You can enjoy the view of perfectly blown Rhododendron and various other flora and fauna like eagles, musk deer, Himalayan Thar, etc. if you are lucky, you might catch a glimpse of snow leopard. This trek offers you a mesmerizing view of the south of Annapurna, Langtang, Gauri Shankar, Numburchuli, and many more.
Numbur Cheese Circuit Trek is located 190 kilometers east from the capital city, Kathmandu. This trek is based on the natural landscape perfectly blended with rich Sherpa culture and tradition. The best time to visit/ travel there from April to May when the Rhododendrons bloom in profusion. Thus, you will be starting your journey from Kathmandu to Shivalaya. Shivalaya is known as the entrance to the Numburchuli Cheese Circuit trek. You will get to enjoy refreshing Rhododendron forests as you walk through it along with Subalpine and temperate forest on its way. You will also be passing through two major passes of this region named Panch Pokhari and Gyazo La pass. During the trek, you might be staying in a local home or camp somewhere suitable. You will be camping most probably so we recommend you to carry personal belongings and warm clothes with you. This trek isn’t that difficult if you are fit and experienced short treks. The difficulties in this journey have always been worthwhile and fulfilling.
