Trip Overview

The Panchase trek is one of Nepal’s hidden gems which is often overlooked by hikers as it is in the same region as the Annapurna Circuit, Poon Hill Trek and the Royal Trek. Panchase is the perfect option if you want beautiful scenery and mountain peak views. This trek needs moderate fitness and is a perfectly trek-able for families and retirees. It is also one of the cheapest treks in Nepal which is great for people on a budget.

Starting at Pokhara, the trek allows you to explore the amazing city and all the wonders it has to offer before leaving. Make sure to have a drink at one of the lakeside cafes. The trek begins in style as you cross the Fewa lake by boat which is experience in itself. The trial takes you past the World Peace Pagoda and then down through some lovely local villages where you can witness the rustic and authentic lifestyle of the local people. Panchase is actually one of the hill stations in the Annapurna Region and is also a religious site for Hindu people. The summit of Panchase Hill (2,500 m) is often considered to be the best viewpoint to see Annapurna Himal’s eminence. However, along your trek you will also see other giant Himalaya peaks including Dhaulagiri, Lamjung, Machhapuchhre and Manaslu.

The best time for this trekking is September to June except the monsoon season because it is the most raining territory in Nepal and the leeches are excessively found and the trail is  slippery & greasy at this time. The walk goes through few beautiful villages mostly inhabited by Gurung, Magar, Brahmin, Chhetri & Dalits so we can see local culture, custom and the way of living. There are small terrace in the sloppy and steep areas which are quiet interesting and worth observing.

It is indeed a great introduction to Himalaya trekking for novices as well as an incredible experience for those with less time on their hands. Apart from this, the main drawcard of the Panchase trek is the beauty and diversity of the scenery; one minute there is terraced rice fields lush, the next, lush vegetation and then alpine areas.

The highest elevation during the trek is 2,517 m at Panchase dada where there is a goddess temple. Thus, we don’t have to worry about altitude sickness; at this height any elevation related problems do not occur.

So, if you want to experience the picturesque sights of mountains and beautiful vegetation with moderate effort, this trek is the one for you.
