World Peace stupa, is located 10kms southwest of downtown Pokhara at an elevation above 1000 meters above sea level. The splendid white stupa situated on a hilltop of Anadu hill overlooking the Annapurnas reflecting on the lakes down is a top destination among national and international tourists. The pagoda, built by Nipponzan Myohoji in 1973 under the Master plan of Mr. Nichidatsu Fujii, establishing World Peace stupas around the world to symbolize World peace. The pagoda was the first Peace Pagoda built in Nepal. The Pagoda is 115 feet tall and 344 feet in diameter.
The Pagoda has two decks, one for tourists and the other for pilgrims to circumambulation. The second deck displays four Buddha statues gifted by international communities i.e. ‘Dharmacakra Mudra’ from Japan, ‘Bodh Gaya’ from Sri Lanka, ‘Kushinagar’ from Thailand and 'Lumbini' from Nepal. Situated on a hilltop, the views are clear and spectacular. One can enjoy beautiful sunrise and sunset from here.
